Early Parenting Day Stay
What areas and accomodations do you recommend for a vacation based on this criteria?
1 week vacation (give or take a day).
Easy flight from eastern USA.
Early December 2008.
Parents and 4 year old.
TROPICAL, WARM AND SUNNY.
Deep-sea fishing for a day.
Under $200 per night lodging.
Oceanfront.

Yes I agree Puerto Rico is a great choice. I personally really like the Embassy suites Dorado. December is high season & the hotel prices are higher. This Embassy suites is on the North coast, about a half hour from San Juan. In December the prices will be about $200 per night for a balcony suite. There is a great pool & lounge & it is beach front.

There is good fising here, but Fajrdo on the east coast (about 45 mins from San Juan) has the best fishing charters. Plus you might get to stop at some gorgeous secluded islands (Palomino, Icacos, etc).

Also Fajardo is close to Rio Grande where you’ll find El Yunque rain forrest which you can discover & believe it or not, you can take a 4 year old. You can drive through most of it & the trails are short enough that you can help your 4 year old walk trough to the waterfalls, just hold his hand b/c it can be slippery. There is also an incredible bioluminescent lagoon here called Las Croabas Lagoon (La laguna Grande) that glows in the dark. You need to take a kayak, so you will need to ask if your child can sit with you in a kayak. Luquillo beach nearby is very family friendly with calm waters, good for young children.

In FajardoEl Conquistador is an excellent hotel, but it will run you about $220 per night w/ a min 5 night stay.
